John B. Mitchell Jr. of Millville, New Jersey passed away on April 2, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife June Mitchell, and daughter Dr. Laura Mitchell, Ph.D. Both of Millville, New Jersey. His sister Emma Jane Fox (Horace) of Newfield, New Jersey, sister-in-law Charlotte Fithian (Sam) of Dallas, Texas, sister-in-law Judy Fithian (Roger) of Christiansburg, Virginia, grand-daughter Taylor Mitchell-Lax and great-grand-daughter Hadley Lax both of Green Bay, Wisconsin, step-grand-daughter Melissa Palacpac (Logan) of San Antonio, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son J.Keith Mitchell (Laura Johnson-Mitchell).
He served as a Local Pastor in the Greater New Jersey Conference of the United Methodist Church for more than 30 years.
He supported Wycliffe Bible Translators and Tech Serve International traveling on numerous mission trips installing telephone systems for missionary stations around the world.
He retired from the engineering department of New Jersey Bell Telephone company after 25 years of service and was active in the Telephone Pioneers Association serving as President of the local chapter.
Early in his career he worked at WSNJ and WMVB radio stations. After his retirement from New Jersey Bell he was owner / operator of WVLT AM/FM radio station in Lake City, South Carolina.
He was active in Kiwanis Club chapters of Millville and Bridgeton, serving as president of the Bridgeton chapter.
Graveside services will be private for the family.
